NOW ACCEPTING THE CANADIAN DENTAL CARE PLAN

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of insurance and payments do you accept?
We accept all private and government insurance plans, and will work with you to bill directly to your insurance provider. Please take time to review your individual plan to understand your benefits and limits. Our team can help you navigate your insurance plan including limits, frequencies, and co-payments. We can send pre-determinations to your insurance provider on your behalf. We accept cash, cheque, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Debit. For most cases our team will bill your insurance provider to pay us directly. This can help alleviate any potential high costs after treatment.
Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
We gladly accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan. You must be registered with the plan BEFORE your appointment and provide us with you your plan number so that we can pre-authorize any treatment beforehand and ensure you are covered. The CDCP has a fee structure that differs than the B.C. fee guide, which our office follows. This means there may be a cost that is not covered by CDCP.
What are CEREC Crowns?
A CEREC crown is a dental crown made from ceramic or porcelain that is designed to look natural and is created and installed in one day. CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. A CEREC crown is made by the dentist taking a digital scan of the tooth using a 3D digital camera. Computer software then creates a 3D model of the tooth. Once the crown is designed on the computer a milling machine creates the tooth in as little as 3 minutes. Finally, once the crown is finished, it is polished and cemented onto the tooth. Benefits of a CEREC Crown: 1) can be created and placed in one visit. 2) Natural looking. 3) Computer-aided technology is used to create an accurate and comfortable fit.
What is Laser Dentistry?
Laser dentistry is used for a variety of dental procedures including removing tooth decay, treating gum disease, reshaping gums, performing biopsies, removing oral lesions, accelerating teeth whitening, and reducing sensitivity around the gum line, all with the increased precision and often minimal discomfort compared to traditional methods due to the focused light beam used by the laser. Lasers can also be used to cold sores associated with herpetic lesions before a noticeable outbreak and shorten the time of the outbreak. We use the Fotona LightWalker laser in our office to assist in treating all aspects of your dental needs.
What can I expect on my first visit?
During your first visit you will meet the dental team. All new patients will have complete dental records which can include a 3D CBCT x-ray, cavity-checking x-rays, a 3D digital intra-oral scan of your teeth and mouth, photos of your teeth and face, a review of your health and dental histories. During your first visit with the dentist, a complete comprehensive dental exam will take place and a treatment plan will be made for you depending on your dental/oral health needs. When visiting a dental hygienist, expect a thorough cleaning of your teeth, including the removal of plaque and tartar buildup, a gum assessment, a polishing of your teeth, and personalized oral hygiene education and recommendations on how to maintain good dental health at home; they may also ask about your medical history and discuss any concerns you might have about your oral health.
Do you offer financing options?
We offer financing options for most dental procedures. At Aesthetic Dental, we believe that finances should not be a roadblock to achieving proper and excellent oral health. All of our in-house financing is offered interest free and we also work with some great third-party companies that offer variable flexible plans. Please ask us about what option is right for you.
Do you offer sedation dentistry?
Currently we offer minimal and moderate oral conscious sedation to all patients. Oral sedation in dentistry refers to a method of conscious sedation where a patient takes a sedative medication in pill form before a dental procedure. This helps them feel relaxed and calm during treatment, while still being able to respond to the dentist if needed; essentially, it’s a way to manage dental anxiety through oral medication, potentially causing drowsiness or even sleep during the procedure.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a teeth-straightening treatment that uses a series of clear, removable aligners. It’s an alternative to traditional braces, which use metal wires and brackets. Compared to traditional metal braces, Invisalign is made of clear plastic which makes it nearly invisible, it can be easily removed to clean and makes it easier to brush and floss your teeth. Invisalign is also more comfortable than traditional metal braces and it is predictable with a digital design available at the beginning of the treatment and digital AI assisted progress tracking to monitor your progress.
Do you see children?
We are happy to see children of all ages. The Canadian Dental Association recommends the assessment of infants, by a dentist, within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth or by one year of age. The goal is to have your child visit the dentist before there is a problem with his or her teeth. In most cases, a dental exam every six months will let your child’s dentist catch small problems early. Some benefits of early dental visits include establishing a positive dental experience, prevention and early detection of dental caries, dental education for parents and children, monitoring growth and development.
What is therapeutic Botox?
Therapeutic Botox is used to treat medical issues compared to Cosmetic Botox which treats aesthetic ones. Reasons to get therapeutic Botox include: headaches and migraines, a sore neck, tooth grinding, clenching of the jaw, painful trigger points in the muscles, backache and shoulder pain, spasms of the muscles, and excessive perspiration. Botox helps to relieve pain or other symptoms of the aforementioned illnesses by relaxing your muscles or by lowering glandular or nerve activity. You can expect to begin to see results in a just a few days with the full effect around 2 weeks.
